The Nanaimo Riptides Swim Team is excited to be hosting our Blue and Gold night on Friday March 11th, 2022 at the Beban Pool. This is a fun team event where swimmers in the Olympic Way program showcase their swimming.  It is also a great way for young swimmers to experience a mini swim meet in the comfort of their home pool.

**Please note that there will be no swim lessons run on this day as we encourage all swimmers in our Olympic Way program to sign up for our Blue & Gold event. Provisions in the schedule have been made to compensate for the missed day of lessons.

The Blue and Gold event will be separated into 3 separate times.

  • Olympic Way Level 1 swimmers will be swimming from 5:15pm - 5:45pm
  • Olympic Way Level 2 swimmers will be swimming from 6:00pm - 6:30pm
  • Olympic Way Level 3 swimmers will be swimming from 6:45pm - 7:15pm

We will be allowing one parent/guardian onto the pool deck to watch their swimmer with proof of vaccine.

A table will be set up in the Beban Pool Lobby for check in. Parents/Guardians are to provide proof of double vaccination (QR Code) along with government issued picture ID.. Due to limited capacity available we are only able to have one guardian per swimmer come on deck. Please arrive on time and be ready to exit the pool deck promptly after the event to open space for the next group of swimmers and guardians.

The coaches will assign your swimmer a Heat and Lane number, and will write the info on your swimmer’s hand so they don’t forget.  Heats are the groups the swimmers swim in.  Lane numbers are #1-4,.  Each of the Level 1 and 2 swimmers will swim with a big buddy (a coach) who brings along a kick board in case your child needs a break.  Most swimmers do not need it, but the kick board is there if they want it.  Swimmers can also wear a life jacket if they want to.

It’s a good idea to bring an extra towel (or two) as they will be in and out of the water.

We ask all Olympic Way families to declare your swimmer online if you are or are not coming to this event so that we can organize accordingly.

Olympic Way swimmers that have completed their current registered Level will be honored at the event
