February 24, 2022 Update

We are still in need of many volunteers for the meet.  We currently have the following vacant positions,

  • Awards Coordinator - 2 positions for finals each day.
  • Chief Timer - 1 position open for Sunday finals.
  • Hospitality Preparer/Server - 2 positions for finals each day.
  • Safety Marshalls - Many positions for all sessions.
  • Stroke & Turn - We are short Friday prelims, Friday finals, Saturday finals and Sunday finals.
  • Timekeepers - We are short for all sessions.
  • Volunteer/Swimmer/Coach/Spectator COVID Check-in (Full Session) -  We are short in almost all sessions.  If we can't check people they can't enter the facility.
  • Volunteer/Swimmer/Coach/Spectator COVID Check-in (Pre Session) -  We are short in almost all sessions.  If we can't check people they can't enter the facility.

If you can help with running the Colorado System 6 Timing Console please email meets@nanaimoriptides.com or officials@nanaimoriptides.coml - we are short on the console.

Please consider helping in even one session so we can run this meet successfully.  If we can spread the jobs around no one will have to take on too much.

February 22, 2022 Updated Session Times and Added Practice Information

Session Times - Estimated session times below have been updated based on registration.

Volunteers - We still need to fill many positions before next weekend.  If you can volunteer for even one session it is helpful.  Job times have also been updated and most sessions are shorter in duration now, please consider helping!

Spectators - With the recent PHO changes we now have some designated spectator seating in the bleachers. For admittance to the Nanaimo Aquatic Center you will be required to provide proof of vaccination and wear a mask.  Please bring your BC Vaccination ID and government issued ID for check-in. Please do not bring folding chairs as there is no space for them on deck.    Remember that the best seats are always reserved for timers and stroke & turn, so please consider helping out in those areas if you can!

Spectators for each session will be allowed to start checking in 30 minutes prior to competition start times.

Vaccination - All swimmers, coaches, chaperones, volunteers and spectators must show proof of vaccination at check-in based on the following,

  • 10 and under do not require proof of vaccination.
  • 11-12 year olds must show proof of partial vaccination
  • 13 and older must show proof of full vaccination.

Masks - Everyone must wear masks while in the Nanaimo Aquatic Centre and not swimming. Please send extra masks with your swimmers as they are often dropped and wet.

Youtube Livestream - All sessions will be live streamed on the NRST Youtube channel NRST Swimming.

If you have any questions please email meets@nanaimoriptides.com

January 30, 2022 Update

The meet has been sanctioned and Job signup has opened.

Meets like this require a large number of volunteers each session to run successfully.  If you can spare some time to work just one of the 6 sessions it is helpful.

Rough timelines for each session are as follows,

*** SESSION TIMES UPDATED ON FEBRUARY 19, 2022 ABOVE ***

See Job details for exact start times and estimated end times for each.  Some jobs require volunteers to arrive earlier than the warmup/competition start times.

Jobs - These jobs are currently only open to NRST families only to allow them an opportunity to complete their NRST volunteer points.

Jobs (Public) - These positions are open for sign up to any clubs attending (including NRST) and do not require an account to sign up.  We require a large number of volunteers from both the Fraser and Island regions to run this meet successfully so we appreciate any time you can spare to volunteer.  When registering, please provide name, club affiliation and phone number information for each person volunteering in the comments section as we may need to contact you.

If there is a position you are interested in working that is not open to public sign up, please email meets@nanaimoriptides.com with your info and we will see if we can accommodate you.

All volunteers/coaches/swimmers 12 years and older must be fully vaccinated per the current Province of BC COVID-19 health restrictions and NAC facility guidelines. Masks must be worn while in the facility by all swimmers/coaches/volunteers.
